2023 Fantasy Outlook
Few prospects, if any, gained more fantasy value than Rice during the 2023 draft. A lot of mocks had him lasting until Round 3 or even Day 3, but he instead went 55th overall to a WR-needy team led by QB Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid. Rice is already 23 and might be the slowest (4.51 40) of KC's top options at wide receiver, but he's also the densest (6-1, 204) and perhaps the strongest, with his 128-inch broad jump and 41-inch vertical showing good athleticism overall. He was a four-year contributor at SMU, including 1,355 yards and 10 TDs as a senior, and now joins a WR corps where the other lead candidates for playing time are 2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore, 2021 first-rounder Kadarius Toney and veteran deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling -- a trio that combined for only 131 targets last season. Rice stands a chance to emerge as the volume receiver of the bunch, with the Chiefs saying goodbye to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in March after trading Tyreek Hill the previous offseason. Likely to be suspended
WRKansas City Chiefs
April 22, 2024
Rice is likely facing a multi-game suspension for his involvement in a car crash in late March, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Rice left the scene of a six-car accident on a Dallas highway and now faces charges for aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. While he figures to be suspended at some point, the NFL typically allows legal processes to play out before doling out league punishment, which means it's possible Rice is on the field come Week 1.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Suspension likely
WRKansas City Chiefs
April 22, 2024
Rice is expected to face league discipline and a suspension due to his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash outside of Dallas last month, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The wide receiver is facing eight criminal charges as well, but any suspension from the league office likely wouldn't be imposed until after his legal issues are settled. Rice led Kansas City in receiving yards as a rookie last season before catching 26 passes during the team's four playoff games, but his questionable availability for the 2024 campaign will give the Super Bowl champs even more incentive to invest resources at his position in this year's draft, perhaps as high as the 32nd overall pick.
