2021 Fantasy Outlook
Stevenson, who the Patriots took in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, adds depth to a New England backfield currently headed by Damien Harris, Sony Michel and change-of-pace option James White. In years past, the team's coaching staff has tended to ease rookie backs into the mix, so volume could be an issue for Stevenson out of the gate. If injuries hit, however, the 6-0, 227-pounder out of Oklahoma could be a factor in short-yardage situations, given that he has a build and running style in the mold of the LeGarrette Blount, a power back who has a successful stint with New England. The Patriots declined Michel's fifth-year contract option this offseason, a move that implies Stevenson likely was brought into the mix in anticipation of Michel potentially moving on after the coming campaign. ANALYSIS
It's unclear what's keeping the rookie fourth-round pick off the field, but Stevenson can come off the list and practice at any time during training camp. Once he's deemed fit to rejoin his teammates, Stevenson will look to carve out a role in New England's backfield, which is currently headed by Damien Harris.
