2019 Fantasy Outlook
Gallman predictably had a modest role in 2018 behind all-world running back Saquon Barkley, with only 51 carries and 14 catches. Gallman's efficiency was poor on those chances - only 3.5 yards per carry and 6.4 yards per reception with one TD on the year. At 6-0, 210 and with 4.60 speed, Gallman is just an average athlete, and this year he'll have to hold off newly-acquired Rod Smith to keep his backup job. Read Past Outlooks

Involved in backfield competition
RBNew York Giants
June 19, 2019
Gallman has competition in the form of Rod Smith and Paul Perkins for the backup job to starting running back Saquon Barkley, Lance Medow of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Barkley laid waste to the NFL as a rookie, earning the highest offensive snap share (83 percent) of any back not named Christian McCaffrey. With few reps available to the rest of the backfield, no other Giants back made much noise, but Gallman managed 265 yards from scrimmage and one score on 65 touches. The group was bolstered in the offseason with the addition of Smith via free agency and the return to health of Perkins after a year away from the field due to a torn pectoral. Because Barkley handles most of the reps, the team may consider keeping just three running backs on the final 53-man roster, which may mean Gallman, Smith and Perkins are competing for two spots.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
Gallman had a solid rookie year (4.3 YPC, 34 catches), especially given the poor play of the team's offensive line. But any hopes for a larger role were dashed when the team drafted uber prospect Saquon Barkley, who should see a massive workload. Gallman will battle recently-signed Jonathan Stewart for the scraps, though if Barkley were to get hurt, there's upside here, given the upgrade to the offensive line and overall system.
Taken in the fourth round, Gallman has a chance to carve out a role should starter Paul Perkins falter or get hurt. Only Shane Vereen and Shaun Draughn are ahead of Gallman on the depth chart, and Vereen is more of a third-down type and Draughn a journeyman vying to make the club. At 6-0, 215, Gallman is fairly stout, though he lacks breakaway speed.
