2018 Fantasy Outlook
Selected with the 20th overall selection in 2016, Lee showed clear progress in his sophomore season, posting 94 tackles and 3.0 sacks after managing only 73 tackles and one sack as a rookie. While he was drafted for his abilities in pass coverage, Lee has blossomed into a versatile all-around linebacker by growing the run support and blitzing aspects of his game. The Ohio State product doesn't turn 24 until Oct. 18, so don't discount the possibility of another major step forward from him in Year 3. Read Past Outlooks

Candidate to be traded
LBNew York Jets
March 12, 2019
Lee is a candidate to be traded or cut by the Jets, Matt Stypulkoski of NJ.com reports.
With the Jets having brought in four-time Pro Bowl selection C.J. Mosley on a five-year, $85 million deal and Avery Williamson under contract with a $10 million dead-cap penalty for 2019, Lee appears to be the odd-man out in the team's linebacker corps. It's possible that the Jets elect to retain the 2016 first-round pick in a reduced role, but his talent in coverage and blitzing situations should garner him a solid trade market. Lee carries just a $1.4 million penalty for 2019 if the Jets decide to trade or cut him.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
Lee is expected to start at inside linebacker alongside David Harris, whose best days are behind him. The Jets did little to improve their interior defensive line, which should allow Lee plenty of tackle opportunities as opposing running backs blast through the initial defensive wave. Lee also doesn't have much competition for playing time, so he's likely to be on the field for all three snaps, which should also help his tackle count. Unfortunately, he's not much of a pass rusher, so a jump in sacks (he had one last year) is unlikely to come.
Though Lee is the Jets’ 2016 first-round pick, he remains with the team’s second-string defense two weeks into training camp. At press time, it’s hard to envision him earning a high-percentage of the team’s defensive snaps in 2016, but Lee will at least be rotated in behind starting ILBs David Harris and Erin Henderson in some capacity. At the same time, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Lee to push Henderson for a starting role at some point this upcoming season, and all it takes is one injury for him to be forced into considerable playing time. For now, though, the rookie is not generating any IDP appeal.
