Sheldon, the No. 5 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, spent five seasons at Ohio State and averaged 17.7 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 33.6 minutes per game as a senior. The sharpshooter finished with a career 35.0 percent mark from deep on 4.1 attempts per game and averaged 1.9 steals per night as a Buckeye, including 3.5 swipes in 2022-23 -- she played in only 13 games that season. Sheldon projects to be a solid three-and-D option as a pro, but it's unclear how big her role will be as a rookie. Dallas has a trio of stars in Arike Ogunbowale, Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally, and veteran guards Crystal Dangerfield and Emma Cannon should also have roles to start the campaign, leaving Sheldon with a crowded path to playing time. ANALYSIS
Sheldon was a dominant player over her five collegiate seasons at Ohio State, and she averaged 17.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 33.6 minutes per game during her final year with the Buckeyes. The 5-10 guard will presumably see a decreased role in the WNBA since the Wings already have several established players, including Arike Ogunbowale, Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally (shoulder). However, Sheldon has the talent to contribute if she can carve out enough playing time at the professional level.
