Eckes won the pole for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway Friday. He turned a fast lap of 182.604 mph.
ANALYSIS
The young ace out-dueled many drivers that were much more experienced to nab the pole position at Daytona. Eckes piloted the No. 51 Toyota Tundra past David Gilliland to claim the top starting spot for Friday night's season-opener. It was the 18-year-old driver's first truck series pole in just his fifth start. He'll challenge the Top 10 in Friday night's NextEra Energy Resources 250.
