Polastri defeated Patricia Alujas via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:05 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, she was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
It was a tremendous all-around effort from the Brazilian fighter, who bested Alujas in every facet of the game before getting the finish. The first round picked up right where the high-volume opener left off, with Polastri winning the significant striking battle 58-to-43 and consistently getting the better of the exchanges. In Round 2, Polastri compromised Alujas with a big knee that she parlayed into a takedown, and she controled the fight on the mat from there. Polastri went from the regional circuits in Brazil to LFA, where she recorded back-to-back stoppage wins going into Tuesday night. The 25-year-old will carry some serious momentum into the UFC's strawweight division.
