Davis absolutely destroyed Gifford from the get-go and only the toughness of the later kept this fight going as long as it did. Someone should have stepped in and called it off, but since they didn't, Davis couldn't do anything other than keep pounding his overmatched opposition and that's exactly what he did. Davis is a boxing specialist and those skills were on full display Saturday.

Davis lost to Gilbert Burns via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:15 of Round 2 at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Davis took this fight with less than two weeks to fully prepare for one of the most dangerous, up-and-coming finishers in the division. He ended up getting unofficially outlanded 13 to 47 in terms of significant strikes, and was thoroughly dominant in the grappling department. Nonetheless, his willingness and ability to step up and make weight on short notice should earn him at least another opportunity with the company.
