February 18, 2017
Alonso defeated Josh Koscheck via TKO (punches) at 4:42 of Round 1 at Bellator 172 in San Jose, Calif.
Alosno started the main card off with an upset. He appeared to be the bigger fighter in this fight. He used his reach and stayed on the outside. Towards the end of the first round, he connected with a counter punch that hurt Koscheck. From there, Koscheck was on the defensive. Alonso landed a nasty uppercut that dropped Koscheck. He continued to pour on the punishment and finished the fight. He came into this fight with a 12-7 record and picked up one of his biggest wins to date.
