Drakkar Klose

Earns tough win at UFC 241
August 17, 2019
Klose defeated Christos Giagos via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 241 on Saturday in Anaheim.
Klose threw everything but the kitchen sink at Giagos and he still couldn't get the stoppage. Both men landed massive shots in what was an all-out brawl from the very start. Klose has proven in the past that he has little interest in defending himself on the feet and that was once again the case in this bout. While Klose is both tough and insanely durable, he is the type of fighter who is willing to eat a huge punch in order to land two of his own, and those guys tend to struggle when tasked with facing better competition. Klose survived on Saturday, but it remains to be seen if he will have that same type of success against an opponent who isn't willing to engage him in the brawl he is desperately seeking.

Klose will take on Christos Giagos in a lightweight matchup at UFC 241 on Aug. 17, MMAJunkie.com reports.
Klose was recently scheduled for a matchup in Sacramento that was scrapped in early-July, but UFC matchmakers were able to get him a new opponent in relatively short order. Both fighters will enter on two-fight winning streaks, though it's Giagos with a slight edge in both height and reach. Klose, though not considered a high-volume strike, outpaces Giagos in that department, while Giagos completes nearly three takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time. Those won't come as easy against Klose, however, as he owns a 70 percent takedown defense.
Scrapped from UFC Sacramento
July 9, 2019
Klose was removed from the UFC Sacramento card on Tuesday, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
Klose's opponent, Beneil Dariush, was forced to pull out of Saturday's bout due to an undisclosed injury. While the UFC did say they were attempting to find a replacement for Dariush, it appears they aren't optimistic about getting a fighter cleared on such short notice.
Needs new opponent in Sacramento
July 7, 2019
Klose will need a new opponent for Saturday's UFC on ESPN+ 13 after Beneil Dariush withdrew with an undisclosed injury, John Morgan of MMA Junkie reports.
While Dariush's withdrawal does come on such short notice, it looks like the UFC is attempting to find a replacement fighter within the week. So, as of now, look for Klose to remain on the card for Saturday's event.
To fight Dariush in Sacramento
May 14, 2019
Klose will take on Beneil Dariush in a lightweight matchup at UFC Sacramento on July 13.
Klose is 9-1 as a pro and 4-1 in UFC, most recent defeating Bobby Green via unanimous decision. While he's enjoyed success, the run has been less enjoyable for fantasy owners, as all of his UFC fights have gone to the judges, and he has yet to surpass 100 significant strikes in a contest. In fact, his best total (68) came in his UFC debut against Devin Powell. Nonetheless, Dariush will be his toughest test to date, and is coming off back-to-back wins of his own. Both height and reach favor Dariush, in addition to striking volume and striking differential. The two men have nearly identical offensive wrestling numbers, though Dariush has a takedown defense 10 percent better (over a much larger sample size).
Edges hard-fought decision
December 15, 2018
Klose defeated Bobby Green via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 29-28) at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
A back-and-forth Round 1 followed by a Green-controlled Round 2 left this fight hanging in the balance heading into the final frame but Klose was able to turn on the pressure as his opponent tired to take the decision. While he has yet to record a finish in the organization, Klose's UFC wins include a who's who of exciting young fighters. He can now add a tough veteran to that list. He improves to 10-1-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
