FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There are a lot of options out there for your daily fantasy hockey lineup Sunday. That is, if you are willing to be an early bird. There are eight games on the slate, but the first one starts at 12:30 PM ET. If you wait for the evening contests, you will only have three games worth of players to choose from. Thus, I've decided to make my recommendations based on the full-day slate.

GOALIE

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK vs. VAN ($8,200): It's pretty much required by law to note how much better the Golden Knights have been defensive at home. They've impressed with a 2.55 GAA in their own arena while only allowing 29.2 shots on net per contest. On the flip side, the Canucks have only scored 2.54 goals per game on the road.

CENTER

Tomas Hertl, SAN vs. CHI ($6,200): Sure, Hertl has a 20.6 shooting percentage. But that's a minor quibble for a guy who has racked up 28 goals and 29 assists in 60 games. Plus, 10 of those goals have come with the extra man. That bodes well here, as the Blackhawks own the league's worst penalty kill, and they are also on the second day of a back-to-back.

Kevin Hayes, WPG at CLM ($5,200): The move from New York City to Winnipeg seems to be sitting well with Hayes so far, coming off a three-point performance in his second game with his new team. Though the Blue Jackets get to be at home, they are still on the second day of a back-to-back. Joonas Korpisalo could be in net, and he enters with a 3.07 GAA and .896 save percentage.

WING

Jonathan Huberdeau, FLA vs. OTT ($6,500): Huberdeau has been absolutely scorching recently, with 13 points in his last eight games. Now he gets to take on a Senators team on the road for the second game of a back-to-back. Need more justification? How about the fact Ottawa has struggled to a 4.45 GAA in away contests?

Kevin Labanc, SAN vs. CHI ($4,800): Labanc has started 60.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest among San Jose forwards. That's helped him tally 43 points in 65 games, although 17 of his points have come with the extra man. As previously noted, the Blackhawks come in with the league's worst penalty kill, while also sporting a 3.87 road GAA.

Jimmy Vesey, NYR vs. WAS ($4,300):Jimmy Vesey is currently skating on New York's top line, and it's paid off with two points in three of his last four outings. The Capitals may be strong offensively, but they have a 3.38 road GAA – which ranks them in the league's bottom-10.

DEFENSE

Thomas Chabot, OTT at FLA ($4,900): Chabot has lost many of his most-talented teammates, but he still has the skills to rack up points on his own. He's notched 47 points in 57 games, 13 with the extra man, and put 151 shots on goal. Both the Senators and Panthers are on the second day of a back-to-back Sunday, and the Panthers have a 3.35 GAA.

Ryan Pulock, NYI vs. PHI ($4,600): Pulock isn't well-known, so you may not be aware he's notched 31 goals in 64 games – including 12 points over his last 14 contests. The Flyers own the 28th-ranked penalty kill, and Carter Hart is still injured. And even if Pulock doesn't have a big day offensively, he can add to his total of 116 blocked shots.
