FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The NHL is pulling out all the stops Saturday, as there are 15 games on the slate. However, a few of those are of the matinee variety, and I will not be including those for my daily fantasy lineup recommendations. Don't fret. Even just including games that start at 7:00 PM ET or later, there are 11 games worth of players to choose from.

GOALIE

David Rittich, CGY vs. VAN ($7,800): The Flames are 11-4-3 at home, thanks in part to the excellent goaltending of Rittich. The 26-year-old goalie has posted a 2.22 GAA and .926 save percentage. While the Canucks have scored 3.00 goals per game, that's on only 28.5 shots on net per contest. Vancouver will have trouble cracking a Flames defense that has only allowed 28.4 shots on goal per game, so Rittich may not be very busy.

CENTER

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. NYR ($5,700): Johansen is actually playing a career high in minutes and power-play minutes, which bodes well for his offensive opportunities. On that front, he has tallied 31 points, including nine with the extra man. As for the Rangers, they own a 4.31 GAA on the road, which ranks second worst in the NHL.

J.T. Compher, COL vs. CHI ($4,800): Compher has been a bit hot recently, with a three-game point streak. His power-play minutes have gone through the roof, and he's notched seven points with the extra man through 22 contests. The Blackhawks enter with a 3.65 GAA and the 29th-ranked penalty kill, with both looking beneficial to Compher.

WING

Jakub Voracek, PHI at FLA ($6,600): Voracek is enjoying a four-game point streak, and has recorded a point in 11 of his last 13 contests. Now he's taking on a Panthers team playing their second game in as many nights. James Reimer is expected to start, and he enters with a 3.45 GAA and .888 save percentage.

Tyler Johnson, TAM vs. MON ($5,900): Johnson is getting to skate on a line with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, and it seems to be paying off with six goals and four assists in his last nine contests. The Canadiens are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back. With Carey Price out, Antti Niemi will either be in net the second night in a row, or Michael McNiven will be getting his first career start.

Jakub Vrana, WAS at OTT ($4,200): Vrana is currently skating on Washington's second line with Evgeny Kuznetsov at center, which certainly helps his fantasy potential. The 22-year-old has been quite active recently, firing 21 shots on net over his last six games. That should continue in this matchup as the Senators – who are also on the second leg of a back-to-back – rank last in both GAA and shots allowed per game.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. CHI ($5,400): Barrie's scoring has slowed a bit, but no need to worry. He has registered 24 points and 81 shots through 34 games, and he's also averaged 4:00 per game on the power play. That bodes well heading into a matchup with the 29th-ranked penalty kill. The fact the Blackhawks have struggled with a 3.65 GAA and that Corey Crawford is hurt should also help.

Mattias Ekholm, NAS vs. NYR ($4,300): Ekholm has recently been racking up the assists, giving him 19 helpers on the season. He only has potted three goals but he had 10 last year, so we know he possesses the skills to light the lamp. That could certainly happen versus a Rangers team with a 4.31 road GAA and also the 26th-ranked penalty kill.
