GOALIE
Ben Bishop, DAL at CAR ($7,600) – With a light Monday slate, Bishop is the safest option because even though the Blues are favored against the Flames, Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau's six-game scoring streak is kind of terrifying. The Stars are 4-2 in their past six games, but both losses came against the white-hot Jets, and in all four wins they've kept their opponents to one goal or less. Bishop was in net for both games against the Jets, but he got back on track with a shutout win against the Islanders on Friday, even if he only needed to make just 14 saves.
CENTER
Tyler Seguin, DAL at CAR ($7,800) – On a night where it's difficult to stray from the top four options, Seguin has a good matchup against the Hurricanes. Bill Peters versus Ken Hitchcock will be an interesting coaching matchup, but the Stars have more experience and are overall the better team. If the game starts opening up, there should be a few odd-man rushes that Seguin can take advantage of.
Brayden Schenn, STL at CGY ($6,400) – Who knew a 50-point player was the top center the Blues needed? Schenn is scoring at a career-best pace with 20 points in 18 games, including nine points in his past four games. Calgary bolstered their defense and overhauled their goaltending this past summer but the results haven't really changed; Travis Hamonic is on the shelf, and they've allowed 12 goals in their past three games.
WING
Alexander Radulov, DAL at CAR ($6,200) – Radulov's quietly put together a seven-game scoring streak after a slow start to the season, and he's a fixture on the Stars' crunch-time scoring line with Seguin and Jamie Benn. Radulov's ice time continues to yo-yo, but he's dangerous every time he steps on the ice and his strength makes it difficult to contain him, especially when 26-year-old Trevor van Riemsdyk is your oldest defenseman.
Micheal Ferland, CGY vs. STL ($4,500) – He's riding the coattails of Monahan and Gaudreau with a three-game goal streak, but there's nothing wrong with that. Ferland is not an elite player, but he's playing with two of them, and he's the type of player who's willing to hang around the right spots to score the dirty goals. The Blues normally defend quite well, so if the two teams keep each other in check, the difference may come down to a lucky bounce.
Jason Spezza, DAL at CAR ($3,900) – Maybe he's worth picking now? He potted his first goal of the season on the power play against the Islanders, ending a 15-game goal drought. It's a little strange to see Spezza struggle so mightily on offense, because he's been very good for a very long time, but getting the first one out of the way must be a relief. He doesn't really play center anymore, which hurts his ability to create, but perhaps this is a sign that he's getting back on track.
DEFENSE
John Klingberg, DAL at CAR ($6,100) – There's a distinct Texas flavor to Monday's picks, but Klingberg is a must-own among the Stars. He's leading the team in scoring with 18 points, and his ability to dictate the offense on the power play is, dare I say, rather Erik Karlsson-like. The Hurricanes are the league's most disciplined team with just 36 penalties, 18 less than the next highest total, so it'll make scoring a little more challenging for Klingberg, but there's no doubt he can still do it.
Colton Parayko, STL at CGY ($4,300) – He's actually mired in a slump and coming off a minus-3 performance against the Islanders, so that's why his price isn't indicative of what he can do. He's the clear-cut No. 2 behind Alex Pietrangelo, and when Parayko is at his best, he's a good shot blocker and a very good shooter. The Flames allow more point shots from the right side, which happens to be Parayko's strong side, and perhaps not coincidentally, he's scored seven points in seven career games against them.
