30-Year-Old Golfer
2019–20 Fantasy Outlook
Ancer ended the 2017-2018 with a flurry and he picked-up right where he left off to start the 2018-2019 season. When the calendar flipped to 2019, he lost a little steam, but he managed to play well here and there on his way to a career high in earnings. This past season was just his third on the PGA Tour and Ancer is yet to find a win, but it's only a matter of time. His number for this season is reasonable and he's definitely worth a look in salary cap formats as he should continue to improve this year. Read Past Outlooks
Adds another top-25 result in Texas
April 5, 2021
Ancer carded a two-under 70 on Sunday at the Valero Texas Open to finish four-under and tied for 23rd.
Ancer has extended his streak of consecutive top-25s to four events since a T18 at the WGC-Workday Championship. He carded only six total bogeys or worse in 72 holes at TPC San Antonio this past week, gaining over 3.7 strokes with the flat stick in the process. Ancer also ranked T8 among the field in GIR percentage and T2 in scrambling. He'll make his second career Masters appearance this week, having tied for 13th in his Augusta National debut last November.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
To say Ancer's career on the PGA Tour got off to a slow start, would be an understatement. Ancer missed the cut in his first nine starts in 2016 and although he went on to make the cut in six of his last 10 starts that season, he never found his footing. His second time around, however, went much better. Although he didn't miss his first nine cuts last season, he did get off to a bit of a slow start with only one top-25 in his first seven starts. Ancer, however, did more than find his footing over the final couple months of the season as he posted three top-10s in his final eight starts. Two of those were top-5s where he actually contended. Ancer held the 54-hole lead at the Dell Technologies Championship and although he faltered in the final round, it should end up being a quality learning experience. Ancer looks like the real deal and he should continue to improve, but how much he'll improve this season is the question. He's got some upside, but at this price, there's plenty of risk as well.
Ancer's rookie campaign on the PGA Tour during the 2015-16 season didn't go as planned, missing 13 of 19 cuts to ultimately finish 190th in the FedExCup standings and lose his card as a result. A solid bounceback effort on the Web.com Tour this past season included 18 of 23 made cuts and seven top-10s, placing third on the regular season money list and re-earning his PGA Tour card for 2017-18. Another bright spot for Ancer included a made cut during his lone start at the PGA Tour level, posting a T55 at the OHL Classic in November of 2016.
