Root set to miss the first Test match against West Indies next week to be at the birth of his second child, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reports.
ANALYSIS
England Test skipper, Root will leave the training camp at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday afternoon to be with his wife, who is expecting their second child later this week. Moreover, he will miss England's three-day intra-squad warm-up match starting tomorrow as well as the first Test match against West Indies, commencing on Wednesday 8 July at the Ageas Bowl. Nevertheless, he will join up the England squad ahead of the second Test at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday 13 July. In his absence, England's Test vice-captain Ben Stokes will lead the side in the first Test match.
