19th Match Preview: Sydney Sixers vs. Hobart Hurricanes

Hobart are already dominating the eighth edition of the BBL, having gone unbeaten in their four matches thus far. Leading the points table with eight points, the home team will have the opportunity to steady their grip at the top as they host Sydney Sixers, who are placed third in the table currently.

The Sixers have played five matches with six points to show, and they would be eager to close the gap with a win in their upcoming match. The side is coming off two consecutive wins after a defeat to Melbourne Stars, and players like Tom Curran, Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk will hold the aces once again. They have named an unchanged 13 for the upcoming match, and it looks highly unlikely that they will change their XI for the encounter. Hobart too goes in unchanged, with the batting department being spearheaded by D'Arcy Short and the bowling by Riley Meredith, who has been baffling rivals with his variations.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Matthew Wade (9 credits)

The opener is the second highest run-scorer for his side in the ongoing edition of the T20 league. He has been vital at the top for Hurricanes, scoring 166 runs in four innings with two half-centuries at a strike-rate of 143.10. The keeper has plenty of experience, having played 26 T20Is for Australia before, and he will once again be the player to watch out for.

Batsman: D'Arcy Short (10.5 credits)

Both sides have plenty of dangerous power-hitters who have done

Batsman: D'Arcy Short (10.5 credits)

Both sides have plenty of dangerous power-hitters who have done well in the tournament. Jordan Silk, Moises Henriques and Daniel Hughes have led the batting unit for Sixers, but I have gone ahead with Short from Hobart due to his effective bowling as well. In four innings, the Aussie international star has amassed 193 runs with an average of 48.25 and a strike-rate of 132.19. However, his bowling has been a revelation, as he has managed to pick up four wickets from 10 overs with an impressive economy rate of 6.70.

All-rounder: Tom Curran (9 credits)

The Sixers side have had a good run of form, and they should thank Curran for it. The English international star has been crucial in both the departments, scoring match-winning cameos down the order and then striking with the ball as well. Curran has picked up nine wickets with an impressive average of 12.55, conceding runs at 6.64 runs per over, which goes with his batting strike-rate of 146.03. In Sixers' last game, Curran picked up three wickets against Brisbane Heat whilst conceding only 25 runs, and he will be one of the most dangerous players in the upcoming game.

Bowler: Steve O'Keefe (9 credits)

The spinner has been creating waves in the tournament and is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far. With 10 wickets from five innings, the international star has been able to bamboozle the opponents with his variations and googlies. Hi economy rate of under 6 has been crucial in stalling the flow of runs as well, and with the opponent side having feared big-hitters, O'Keefe's services will be of much importance against the Hurricanes.

Captain: Tom Curran

Vice-captain: D'Arcy Short
