Friday's matchup features a pair of teams who will need to turn things around quickly if they're to catch the streaking Monkeys atop the CPBL's first-half standings. In a battle of lefties, the Lions will turn to veteran American knuckleballer Ryan Feierabend as they look to end their four-game skid. The 34-year-old hasn't been anywhere close to what the Lions have been looking for out of their precious few foreign player slots, as he's struggled to a 6.43 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP through his first four starts. He did at least strike out a season-high eight batters in his last start, which came against the Guardians, but he took the loss after giving up four runs in 5.2 innings. Opposing him on the mound for the hosts will be 22-year-old Chen Shih-Peng. Chen recorded a strong 3.48 ERA in 23 starts last season but has a relatively mediocre 4.67 mark through three starts this campaign.

Hu Chin-Lung, Guardians: A number of the best hitters in this contest bat left-handed, making them typically poor values against the pair of lefty starting pitchers. The right-handed Hu therefore makes for an interesting captain choice. He's followed up his .342 batting average from last season with a nearly identical .346 mark this year.

Kao Kuo-Lin, Guardians: Another right-handed bat, Kao looks to be breaking out at the start of his fifth CPBL season. Primarily a part-time player in previous seasons, he's earned an everyday role this year, hitting .378 and slugging .600, all while costing a very cheap 8.5 credits.

Kuo Fu-Lin, Lions: The best hitter among both teams so far this season, at least according to Dream11 fantasy points, Kuo makes for a strong captain choice for those predicting a Lions victory. He's been on fire lately, hitting four home runs in his last four games.

Lee Tsung-Hsien, Guardians: Lee isn't a star, but he doesn't cost a star price, coming in at a respectable 9.5 credits. After a poor start to the season, he's turned things around in his last three games, grabbing six hits and scoring four runs.
