2019 Tournament PreviewKentucky enters the NCAA Tournament as one of the field's most battle-tested teams, playing 15 Quad 1 games, only five of which were at home, and going 10-5. That helped the Wildcats close the regular season ranked sixth in the NET rankings and seventh on KenPom. As is expected in Kentucky under coach John Calipari, the Wildcats get it done on both ends of the floor. Ranked 13th by KenPom in offensive efficiency and 12th in defensive efficiency, the Wildcats are one of four teams ranked in the top 15 of both categories. They lack upperclassmen like most Kentucky teams -- 351st in KenPom's experience metric -- but that might not matter much to a unit with the 22nd-toughest schedule this year. The biggest question is the status of grad transfer Reid Travis (11.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg), a 6-8 forward who was limited in the SEC tournament with a knee injury. But even if he isn't 100 percent healthy, several NBA-level talents in the rotation are ready to pick up the slack.
