ANALYSIS
Texas A&M wanted a replacement for Tyrece Radford, a redshirt senior previously part of the Aggies' primary backcourt. Even though Phelps prefers to operate as a point guard, his previous seasons with SMU saw him mostly play as a wing, which is just what the Aggies need alongside Wade Taylor and Manny Obaseki. Phelps averaged more than 10 points for SMU in multiple seasons, and such is expected to continue being the case for an Aggies team that could use a supplementary scorer.
