Diarra withdrew his name from the 2020 NBA Draft and is no longer included among the league's official list of early entrant candidates that was released Wednesday, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
When he announced in late March that he was joining Virginia Tech as a graduate transfer from Kansas State for the 2020-21 season, Diarra indicated he would simultaneously declare for the draft. Based on the feedback he received from the NBA's draft advisory committee, Diarra may have felt he could improve his professional outlook by sticking around in college, albeit at another school. After averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 three-pointers in 31.1 minutes per game with Kansas State last season, Diarra should be in store for a large role with the Hokies, who lost their top player from 2019-20, Landers Nolley, to the transfer portal.
