Mathews coupled 11 points (3-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT) with one rebound and block during Saturday's 81-70 loss to Oklahoma.
The junior has certainly entertained his highs and lows through the first two months of the season. Mathews, despite shooting just 40 percent, has taken on a new role with the offense his third time around. The Los Angeles native has seen his field goal attempts jump from 7.4 FGA per game last season to 10.3 FGA per game this season. The high volume usage makes Mathews and intriguing asset. If the junior can start proving to be a bit more efficient with his usage, then he'll have the chance to start putting up eyebrow-raising numbers.
