Picks 4|FRONTS|7|FRONTS|10

It's the strangest thing...I have all of these voice mails from casino hosts...wonder what that's about.

Anyway, here's the recap of yesterday's fun:

Houston -123. The Astros are not very good. They got shut out by Barry Zito and friends, with Jeff Keppinger (two doubles, two walks) the entire offense. Wandy Rodriguez held serve for five innings before being chipped away at in the sixth.

Colorado +150. The risk here was that the Brewers would beat up on the mediocre lefty, and that's what happened. On a different note, the Rockies may wish to come up with a better plan for "down three in the ninth, one on, no out" than "letting Chris Barmes bat." He's a career .258/.299/.415 hitter with a platoon split--he's basically awful against righties.

Full slate of games today, including two day games. There's very little of note, sides or totals:

Colorado -107. The significantly better team, the better starting pitcher (Aaron Cook vs. Doug Davis), the right platoon matchup and close to even money.

Florida -118. When Johan Santana doesn't pitch, the current Mets are basically a .440-caliber team. Against Ricky Nolasco, they're a lot worse than that. Nolasco won't be -118 much longer.

For those who have asked, I will be mixing totals in, but since they require some sense of the run environment, I'm staying away for now.

OK, need to return that call from the Mirage....
