Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Jon Gray, COL at MIL ($34): The Rockies hurler has been beat around in his past three outings (19 runs allowed over 12 innings) but he still owns a decent 3.84 FIP and plus 24.8 percent K-rate following the rough patch. Milwaukee owns an underwhelming .327 wOBA and 99 wRC+ in August and entered the series Monday with losses in six of its past seven outings. Gray is cheap, too.

Carlos Rodon, CHW vs. PHI ($29): The sophomore lefty has allowed just four earned runs through 18 innings over his past three starts and grabs an ideal matchup Tuesday. Philadelphia owns a target-worthy .288 wOBA and 76 wRC+ against southpaws this season. Rodon also passed the eye test with his stuff in his latest outing against Cleveland.

CATCHER

Mike Zunino, SEA vs. NYY ($18): The sample size is just 24 plate appearances, but Zunino has hammered southpaws this season with a .438 ISO, .480 wOBA and 213 wRC+. He also has four extra-base hits, four runs and six RBI during his active four-game hitting streak. CC Sabathia owns a 6.00 ERA through seven second-half starts, too. Should Chris Iannetta ($7 salary and .336 wOBA against lefties this season) receive the start instead of Zunino, he's a sound pivot.

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer, KC at MIA ($11): With a .366 wOBA and 130 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers over the past two seasons, Hosmer lands in an A+ matchup against Andrew Cashner. During the same time frame, Cashner has served up a .511 slugging percentage and a .376 wOBA to left-handed batters.

SECOND BASE

Trea Turner, WAS at BAL ($17): A seemingly tough matchup against Kevin Gausman actually isn't so challenging (.365 wOBA allowed to right-handed hitters), which makes Turner a strong play Tuesday. The rookie has posted a .400 wOBA and 150 wRC+ against right-handed arms this year and has shown no signs of slowing down.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TB vs. BOS ($22): Although Clay Buchholz is a more admirable foe against right-handed hitters, Longoria has flipped the script on righties to the tune of a .381 wOBA and 144 wRC+ this season.

SHORTSTOP

Brad Miller, TB vs. BOS ($25): The breakout infielder has exploded for eight August bombs and sits with a .368 wOBA and 135 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers for the season. Buchholz has allowed a .483 slugging percentage and .374 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season, which checks out as a high-end matchup for Miller to continue his second-half surge.

OUTFIELD

Stephen Piscotty, STL vs. NYM ($13): The sophomore is screaming value Tuesday. He boasts a .405 wOBA and 157 wRC+ against southpaws since entering the league and Jon Niese has surrendered a .346 wOBA to right-handed batters over the past two seasons.

Corey Dickerson, TB vs. BOS ($13): As noted, Buchholtz has resembled a pitching machine against lefty bats this season (.374 wOBA allowed) and Dickerson is a boom-or-bust hitter with a .268 ISO and .345 wOBA against right-handed arms. Dickerson's salary makes him a strong tournament flier.

Melky Cabrera, CWS vs. PHI ($11): A potential source of cap relief, Cabrera lands in a nice matchup against Jake Thompson. Thompson is making his fourth career start and has allowed a .471 slugging percentage and .383 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Cabrera's numbers don't jump off the page (.335 wOBA against right-handed arms since 2014), but he's a solid bet to produce above his salary Tuesday.
