Sami Whitcomb

25-Year-Old GuardG
 Seattle Storm  WNBA
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Whitcomb came off the bench in 21 of her first 22 appearances last year but started in Seattle's final 18 games of the season, taking a starting job from Kia Nurse. Whitcomb improved her three-point efficiency slightly by shooting 38.5 percent from long range, and she ranked 10th in the league with 2.2 made three-pointers per game. Overall, the 25-year-old averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 24.5 minutes per game during her first season back in Seattle following a two-year stint with the Liberty. However, the team added Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike ahead of the 2024 season. Whitcomb should still have opportunities to contribute, but her output will likely be more inconsistent. Whitcomb has proven to be capable of producing consistent fantasy results, but her role in 2024 could decline slightly given the team's offseason acquisitions. Read Past Outlooks
Key contributor in return to Storm
GSeattle Storm
September 28, 2023
Whitcomb averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 steals over 24.5 minutes in 40 appearances during the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
Whitcomb signed with Seattle to return to the team she spent the first four years of her WNBA career with after playing for New York over the past two years. The guard ended up playing a key role in the Storm's starting lineup while appearing in all 40 regular-season games. She averaged her highest point total since 2021 while setting a career-high mark in assists. Whitcomb is under contract through the 2024 campaign, so expect her to fight for a starting job again next year.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Whitcomb didn't post a particularly efficient season from beyond the arc in 2022, finishing the year midpack, knocking down just 35.1 percent of her triple attempts, but she still ranked in the 93rd percentile in attempts (168). Whitcomb returns to Seattle for the 2023 campaign, and the new-look Storm will likely count on the seventh-year guard for a consistent scoring output without Breanna Stewart, who will trade places with Whitcomb and move to New York. Whitcomb also provides a little production in the assist column and sports a relatively clear path to regular playing time in Seattle.
During her first season with New York, Whitcomb averaged 11.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.1 minutes per game – all career-best numbers. The 5-foot-10 guard was also efficient from the field, shooting 47.3 percent overall and 42.5 percent from three – which were all career-high marks as well. She figures to build off her breakout performance during her second season with the Liberty and should once again be a key piece of the rotation.
