Remains hopeful for Australian Open
Ankle
January 12, 2021
Flipkens is still hoping to play in the Australian Open despite suffering a Grade 2 tear of her ATFL ligament in Abu Dhabi on Friday, George Bellshaw of the London Metro reports.
ANALYSIS
Flipkens remains in Abu Dhabi at the moment as she's already began the rehab process after tripping over a protruding on-court advertisement and badly rolling her ankle Friday against Sofia Kenin. Given the lengthy travel to Australia and quarantine requirements, it seems likely that Flipkens will seriously consider sitting out the Australian Open before making the trip.
