Chris Young: Traded to the A's

Posted on October 20, 2012 at 1:53 PM

Young was traded to the Athletics on Saturday, the Diamondbacks' official site reports. The A's also received cash and sent Cliff Pennington and infielder prospect Yordy Cabrera to the Diamondbacks.

Cabrera was immediately traded from the Diamondbacks to the Marlins for Heath Bell and cash. Young, who is owed $8.5 million in 2013, will be reunited with former Diamondbacks manager, and current A's manager, Bob Melvin. This likely leaves Coco Crisp as the odd man out in the Oakland outfield.
