The D-Backs officially released Byrnes on Wednesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS
They'll be eating most of Byrnes' $11 million salary for the 2010 season. The decision to release him will open up more at-bats with the big league club, meaning that Gerardo Parra can likely collect enough at-bats as the fourth outfielder to stick around with the D-Backs all season long. Look for Byrnes to get a small contract elsewhere to compete for a spot during spring training.
