Fred Davis: To Sit Final Preseason Game

Posted on August 29, 2012 at 10:17 AM

Davis won't play in the Redskins' preseason finale Wednesday against Tampa Bay, the Washington Post reports.

Davis will be good to go come Sept. 9 at New Orleans in the team's regular season opener, however. The release of Chris Cooley only solidifies Davis' hold on Redskins' top TE slot and further implies that the team is confident that he will avoid any further off-field issues that could lead to NFL sanctions. With Cooley no longer in the picture, Niles Paul is currently listed as the Redskins' No. 2 TE.
