Marshawn Lynch: Multi-Year Extension With Seahawks

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 8:07 PM

Lynch has signed a multi-year contract to remain with the Seahawks, the team's official site reports. Lynch's deal is reportedly a four-year agreement worth $31 million, of which $18 million is guaranteed.

Signing any back to a long-term deal does not come without risk, but Lynch is just 25 and coming off a career year that saw him carry 285 times for 1,204 yards, with 12 TDs in 15 games. As long as he can stay healthy and motivated, he'll continue to see the bulk of the Seahawks' carries in 2012 and beyond, but it's perhaps not a coincidence that Lynch was a below average starting running back prior to his contract year in 2011. Still, he should be one of the earliest fantasy picks among running backs in 2012 due to the probability that he'll see a big workload.
