Brook Lopez: (Ankle) Healing Well

Posted on April 27, 2012 at 10:21 AM

Lopez (ankle) hopes to be back on the basketball court within a month and wants to remain with the Nets, the Bergen County Record reports.

Lopez, who is a restricted free agent, missed most of the season with foot and ankle injuries. The injuries may discount Lopez's price on the free-agent market, but it's unclear how much money the Nets will have available if they are able to re-sign Deron Williams, who likely remains the team's top priority. Key contributors Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries are also likely to be looking for long-term deals with the Nets or another team. It's unlikely another team would be able to sign him to an offer sheet that the Nets wouldn't match. Count on Lopez being with the Nets next season and holding down their starting center or power forward job.
