Withdraws from Laguna Seca
SunEnergy1 Racing will not take part in this weekend's Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca due to an illness for team owner/driver Habul. The U.S.-based Australian came down with a stomach virus on Saturday while at the Hungaroring for the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, which forced both he and co-driver Tristan Vautier out of the remainder of the event, sportscar365.com reports.
Parts Ways with Riley
SunEnergy1 Racing is absent from this weekend's Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, following the dissolving of its partnership with Riley Motorsports. Riley, which had run the Kenny Habul-owned operation since the start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, was reportedly notified earlier this week that its services would no longer be needed, sportscar365.com reports.
Merges with Riley Motorsports
Riley Motorsports will remain a two-car operation in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year, with the addition of SunEnergy1 Racing under its banner. U.S.-based Australian Habul will continue at the wheel of the SunEnergy1 Mercedes and is joined by Mercedes-AMG factory drivers Maro Engel and Thomas Jaeger for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, sportscar365.com reports.
