Fast Day 3 at Indy
IRL
May 21, 2021
Kanaan found the right blend of ingredients for speed Thursday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, leading the third day of practice for the 105th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Kanaan, who is aiming to make his 20th start in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," led the pack of 35 cars with a best lap of 225.341 mph in the No. 48 The American Legion Honda, IndyCar.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The days have been progressively heating up and therefore affecting the handling of the Indianapolis oval. Kanaan mastered the course Thursday afternoon and laid down a solid 225 mph lap. He edged Conor Daly, who has been consistently fast all week, for the fastest lap of the day 3 session. Kanaan is a past Indy 500 champion and would love to get his hands on another Borg-Warner trophy before he reaches retirement.
