Barely gets past Jeremiah Wells
WelterweightUFC
February 10, 2024
Griffin defeated Jeremiah Wells via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Either man could have been announced as the winner here, and it would have been perfectly acceptable. Wells was definitely responsible for the larger, more visually-pleasing moments of the fight, but as he does every single time out, Griffin stuck with it. Griffin made things ugly, and while his opponent's effectiveness dipped in Round 3, Max picked up the pace. It was a strong visual for the judges, although Round 1 ended up deciding the bout. Griffin is 38 years old and gets by with grit and determination at this late stage of his career, but you get an honest effort from him each and every time out. Max has alternated wins and losses in his past five fights dating back to July 2021.

Set to fight Wells
WelterweightUFC
December 1, 2023
Griffin will fight Jeremiah Wells at a UFC event scheduled for Feb. 10, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters will enter the fight after losing their previous bout, although Griffin has won just once since 2022 compared to Wells' three victories in that span.
Unable to derail Michael Morales
WelterweightUFC
July 1, 2023
Griffin lost to Michael Morales via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Griffin was the better man for five minutes before being blown out of the water by one of the top prospects in the sport today. Max stuck close to Morales for the entirety of Round 1, limiting the space of his massive opponent. He became increasingly less effective in that area as the fight progressed and Morales responded by landing a ton of power shots. Griffin attempted to flip the script by wrestling, but failed on all eight of his takedown tries. Set to turn 38 years of age in late November, Max remains a well-respected veteran at 170 pounds, but this was a big ask. "Pain" has alternated losses and wins in his past four fights.

Griffin defeated Tim Means via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight was nowhere near as close as the "split decision" term would lead you to believe. It was a clear Griffin victory, highlighted by a massive knockdown of Means in Round 1. Both men landed three takedown attempts, but Griffin was far more effective in controlling his opponent on the mat. Max connected with power, while Means threw plenty of volume, none of which damaged his opponent. The soon-to-be 37-year-old Griffin has won four of five dating back to November 2020.
Facing Means in October
WelterweightUFC
August 13, 2022
Griffin will fight Tim Means at the UFC event scheduled to take place on Oct. 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin hasn't fought in almost five months after losing to Neil Magny via split decision in March, so he should be in good form heading into his next bout against Means in the fall. The 36-year-old will look to get back to the .500 mark with the promotion against Means, who is two years his elder at age 38.
