Cutelaba and Dustin Jacoby fought to a split draw (29-28, 28-29, 28-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's nearly impossible to land eight successful takedowns in Round 1 and not win a fight that sees the final bell, but Cutelaba found a way to do it here. This bout was a rout in the early going on the strength of Cutelaba's grappling. It seemed headed that way for the duration, at least until Cutelaba's gas tank immediately and completely evaporated. He allowed Jacoby to take control of the fight on the feet and string together massive power shots over the course of the final ten minutes. Ion actually deserves credit for not crumbling under the pressure, but this is a disastrous result for him in a fight which appeared to be all but decided. "The Hulk" is now 1-3-1 in his past five fights dating back to April 2019.

Cutelaba will now face Dustin Jacoby in a light heavyweight bout at the UFC event on May 1, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba was supposed to fight Devin Clark, but he had to withdraw due to an undisclosed reason. The UFC was able to swoop in quickly and get Dustin Jacoby in line for the May 1 bout, who is coming off a unanimous decision victory in his last fight against Maxim Grishin in late February. Cutelaba will hope to snap a three fight losing streak.
Needs new opponent for May 1

Cutelaba announced Tuesday that he will be taking on a replacement fighter for the UFC's May 1 event after his scheduled opponent, Devin Clark, withdrew from the matchup due to an unspecified reason, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
The UFC had planned the Cutelaba-Clark light heavyweight matchup to serve as the top preliminary fight ahead of the co-main event, but the promotion will now have to alter its card with Clark bowing out. Cutelaba said that he'll remain on the May 1 card, so the UFC will likely look to secure a replacement for Clark within the next couple of days.

Cutelaba will take on Devin Clark in a light heavyweight matchup at a UFC event scheduled for May 1, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba was outmatched in October when he lost to Magomed Ankalaev via KO (punches) at UFC 254, but he'll return to the Octagon at the beginning of May as he attempts to snap a three-fight losing streak. He'll face Clark, who lost to Anthony Smith via submission (triangle choke) at UFC on ESPN 18 in late November. The two fighters are even in reach, but Cutelaba carries an edge in height.
Hammered by Magomed Ankalaev

Cutelaba lost to Magomed Ankalaev via KO (punches) at 4:19 of Round 1 at UFC 254 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba finally got the rematch against Ankalaev he was desperately seeking, and the end result was the same as the first bout, minus the controversy. Simply put, Cutelaba was unable to match the speed and explosiveness of Ankalaev. He was dropped with a straight left hand before a sweeping left hook and some follow-up shots finished him off. Cutelaba has some impressive knockout victories in his UFC career, but his overall record with the company drops to 4-5 following Saturday's defeat.
