Moves to 3-1 when missing weight
BantamweightUFC
February 15, 2020
Borg defeated Rogerio Bonterin via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-25) at UFC Rio Rancho on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Borg came in heavy for this fight by two pounds, though it was Bontorin controlling posture early when in the clinch. Borg then put his crafty grappling to use and secured the takedown, though didn't do much damage and even ate a few shots from Bontorin off his back. Bontorin threatened with an escape, but Borg landed his best shot of the round -- a right hand that led the way for him to secure another takedown. Borg went right back to the takedown at the opening of Round 2, and his persistence paid off. He was ultimately able to take the back of Bontorin and started hunting for the submission, attempting both a rear-naked choke and neck crank. While he didn't get the submission, he logged more than four minutes of control time in the round. The grappling ability was again put on display in Round 3 with more of the same, as Bontorin was simply unable to shake Borg from his back. While Borg gets the win, there's an asterisk here given it's his fourth career weight miss, and he may be forced to move up to bantamweight again moving forward.

Fight on despite missing weight

Borg missed weight by two pounds and will be fined 30 percent of his purse for Saturday's flyweight bout against Rogerio Bontorin at UFC Rio Rancho, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Borg weighed in at 128 pounds for both weigh-in attempts Friday, which marks the third time he's missed weight at flyweight. He moved up to bantamweight in 2019 but also missed weight for one fight at that weight class, as this clearly continues to be a major issue for the 26-year-old.

Constant pressure propels victory

Borg defeated Gabriel Silva via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC San Antonio on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Borg was forced to respect the striking of Silva early, but ended up pressing him against the fence in search of a takedown. While Borg was attempting a guillotine, Silva was able to escape and get a takedown of his own. It took Borg until the closing seconds to scramble out of it, but he likely ended up losing the round. Borg started the second fast with a takedown early, and fully committed to a guillotine attempt. Silva ended up again escaping and emerging on top inside the guard of Borg. Silva transitioned to his back where he locked in a body triangle and attempted a rear-naked choke, but Borg was able to escape and reverse position. Silva got back to his feet, but ate a heavy knee in the process. Borg started to look like the clear fresher fighter after that, landing additional strikes before taking Silva back down to the mat. Entering the third round presumably tied up, Borg successfully went to the takedown early. It was Borg's round through and through, as he was able to take Silva right back down each time he got back to his feet. This was a much-needed win for Borg to get back on track after losing as a big favorite to Casey Kenney last March.

Borg (11-4) will fight Gabriel Silva in a bantamweight fight at UFC San Antonio on July 20, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Borg has yet to secure a win since moving to the bantamweight division at the beginning of 2019; in his only fight in that division so far, the 25-year-old fell to Casey Kenney via unanimous decision after missing weight by one pound. He'll face an opponent in Silva who is making his UFC debut after going undefeated in his first eight fights as a professional.
Struggles continue with loss to Casey Kenney
BantamweightUFC
March 30, 2019
Borg lost to Casey Kenney via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 2 on Saturday in Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. After missing weight on Friday (again), Borg had to forfeit 30 percent of his purse to Kenney and he still ended up with a loss on his record. To give you an idea of how little he accomplished on the feet, Borg was credited with seven successful takedowns landed and he still came up short. Borg has a lot going on in his personal life, and it's fair to wonder if it's impacting his performance inside the Octagon. He has far too much ability to be sporting a 2-3 record in his last five fights.
