Loss snaps 14-fight unbeaten streak
WelterweightUFC
October 17, 2020
Silva lost to James Krause via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Silva is known for winging big power shots and relentlessly looking for takedowns, but the Brazillian hardly tried to get the fight to the floor after Round 1, despite having a measure of success controlling Krause against the cage. Silva has a win over Leon Edwards in 2014, but it's tough to imagine his style will play well against top competition going forward, as so much of it relies on strength takedowns and bad kickboxing before he can get to his BJJ. At 38-years old, it's possible Silva is just here to put on a few more exciting fights before the curtain drops. He falls to 14-2 in his professional MMA career as a result of the loss.

Following news that Muslim Salikhov (undisclosed) is unavailable, Silva will now fight James Krause at UFC's Fight Island on Oct. 17, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a bit of short notice just two weeks until the fight, but Silva will now prepare for Krause, who last fought against Trevin Giles in February and lost via split decision. Meanwhile, Silva hasn't been in the Octagon since August of 2019 when he won his fourth straight fight via submission over Cole Williams.

Silva will take on Muslim Salikhov in a welterweight matchup at a UFC event scheduled for Oct. 17, Marcelo Barone of Combate reports.
ANALYSIS
Silva last fought in August of 2019 when he defeated Cole Williams via submission (rear-naked choke) at UFC Newark. Following his layoff, he'll search for his sixth consecutive win to begin his UFC career. Salikhov has won four consecutive fights but looked less dominant than usual when he defeated Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos via split decision in July. Silva and Salikhov are even in height, but Silva carries a one-inch advantage in reach.
Runs win streak to 10 straight

Silva defeated Cole Williams via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:35 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 5 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
Silva entered as by far the biggest favorite on the card (-550) and he showed exactly why. Williams missed weight by five pounds on Friday and Silva still accepted the bout and ran through his overweight opponent. A high-level submission specialist, Silva quickly got Williams to the mat and took his back. He unloaded a few strikes to soften his opponent up and then finished him with the RNC. It was an excellent effort from a fighter who has won his first five UFC bouts. A significant rise in competition is forthcoming for Silva.
New opponent for UFC Newark
WelterweightUFC
July 24, 2019
Sliva will now face Cole Williams at UFC Newark on Aug. 3 instead of Ramazan Emeev, Raphael Marinho of Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Emeev had to pull out of the fight due to visa issues. Silva is riding a 13-match wining streak since losing his professional debut back in 2017, so he undoubtedly has confidence no matter who he is squaring off against. His new opponent, Williams, sports an 11-1-0 record.
To fight Emeev
WelterweightUFC
May 29, 2019
Silva is expected to fight Ramazan Emeev in a welterweight matchup at a UFC event in Newark on August 3, Raphael Marinho of Combate reports.
ANALYSIS
Silva is on a 13-match winning streak since losing his professional debut back in 2007, most recently getting Danny Roberts to tap out in March. The Brazilian has built plenty of momentum since entering the UFC, winning four in a row with back-to-back submission victories. Emeev is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC, sports an 80 percent takedown defense over that span and hasn't been submitted since 2009.
