Saidyokub Kakhramonov

Uzbekistan

Released by UFC
BantamweightOther
February 16, 2023
Kakhramonov was released by the UFC last week, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's rare for a fighter to be handed walking papers despite a winning record with the company, but that was the case with Kakhramonov. His two-plus year tenure with the UFC was not without issues, however. He came in 2.5 pounds heavy for his UFC debut against Trevor Lawrence, a fight which he went on to win. He was then forced to pull out of a scheduled bout against Brian Kelleher, and no reason was disclosed. There's no way of knowing what has all gone on behind the scenes, but given Kakhramonov is only 27 years old and was a highly-regarded prospect by many, a reunion down the road might not be entirely out of the question.

Kakhramonov lost to Said Nurmagomedov via submission (ninja choke) at 3:50 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kakhramonov is going to be kicking himself following this one, considering he was dominating prior to the stoppage and seemingly on his way to an easy decision victory. An excellent wrestler, Kakhramonov landed 5-of-12 takedown attempts, totaling 7:52 worth of control time. Then, Kakhramonov allowed Nurmagomedov to clamp on a choke and referee Keith Peterson was stepping in moments later. It won't make Kakhramonov feel any better, but he clearly appeared to be the better fighter in a bout which was a pick 'em when the evening began.

October 6, 2022
Kakhramonov (10-2-0) is scheduled to face Said Nurmagomedov (16-2-0) in a bantamweight bout set for Dec. 17 at the UFC's event in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The matchup features two fighters riding hot streaks, with Kakhramonov having won his last four fights while Nurmagomedov has been a victor in three straight bouts. The 26-year-old Kakhramonov hasn't lost since February 2019, which predates his time in the UFC.
Leans on takedown in victory

July 9, 2022
Kakhramonov defeated Ronnie Lawrence via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC on ESPN 39 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Kakhramonov picked up a submission victory over Trevin Jones in his UFC debut last August, but this was his true coming out party. He put forth one of the best wrestling performances we have seen in recent memory. Kakhramonov connected on 10-of-16 takedowns, good for 12:19 worth of control time. Just stunning numbers for a 15-minute bout. It goes without saying there is ridiculous upside here. Kakhramonov won't turn 27 years of age until the middle of November. Keep an eye on him moving forward.
Fighting Lawrence in July

April 8, 2022
Kakhramonov will take on Ronnie Lawrence at UFC Fight Night on July 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kakhramonov had to withdraw from his last scheduled fight against Brian Kelleher in January for undisclosed reasons, but he's now set to return to the octagon in July. The 26-year-old came out victorious in his UFC debut in August, defeating Trevin Jones via technical submission (guillotine choke). He will take on Lawrence, who won his last fight over Mana Martinez via unanimous decision in February.
Out of fight Saturday

January 12, 2022
Kakhramonov is out of his fight on Saturday against Brian Kelleher for an undisclosed reason, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Kakhramonov was forced to withdraw. The UFC already announced that Kevin Croom would take his place against Kelleher. Kakhramonov last fought back in August when he defeated Trevin Jones.
