Slated to fight rookie in January
Motta will fight Tom Nolan in a lightweight bout on Jan. 13 in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Motta's fourth UFC contest will come against a rookie in Motta who is coming off a KO/TKO win during Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender series this past August. The 23-year-old rookie Australian has a foundation in MMA, and he is 6-0 in his young career dating back to 2020. Motta most recent fight versus Trey Ogdon ended in a no-contest back in November, and the 30-year-old Brazilian is now 1-2-0-1 in his UFC career.

Extremely fortunate no contest
Motta and Trey Ogden fought to a no-contest (premature referee stoppage) at 3:11 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
He obviously didn't do it intentionally, but Motta owes referee Mike Beltran a nice steak dinner after an error by the latter earned the former a no-contest on his record instead of what would have been a clear loss. Motta looked awful the entire fight and was well on his way to dropping a decision if he saw the final bell. Nikolas found himself in a tight arm-triangle choke with a couple minutes left, at which point Beltran told him to show him he was still in the fight. Since Motta, was, you know, defending a choke, he was unable to do so, prompting Beltran to stop the fight. It was reviewed via replay afterwards and changed to a no-contest -- a very strange outcome and monumental break for Motta.

Ogden fight next
Motta will compete against Trey Ogden in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 82 on Nov. 18, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Motta will look to redeem himself after suffering a first-round knockout in his previous fight. Ogden, 16-6 MMA and 1-2 UFC, was the lightweight who replaced Motta after he withdrew from a scheduled fight against Ignacio Bahamondes scheduled for UFC 287.

Starched by Manuel Torres
Motta lost to Manuel Torres via KO (elbow) a 1:50 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 47 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was going well for Motta, right up until it wasn't. He cracked Torres with a few huge punches in the early going before eating one of the most perfectly placed elbows to the face you will ever see. Motta was out cold on the spot, but referee Herb Dean was a good six feet away, and that allowed Torres to land a brutal, unnecessary follow-up shot before he could be pulled away. The 30-year-old Brazilian has been an all-or-nothing performer during his brief UFC run, losing two of his first three fights, all via knockout.

New fight booked for June
Motta (undisclosed) will now face Manuel Torres at UFC Vegas 75 on June 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Motta was originally slated to follow up his first UFC victory with a bout against Ignacio Bahamondes in April, however, he was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons. The 30-year-old will instead enter the Octagon two months later against Torres, who also is coming off a win in his UFC debut. Motta is known for his powerful striking ability and one punch could end this fight in a hurry.
