Yanez defeated Davey Grant via split decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The 30-27 scorecard in Grant's favor is one of the worst in recent memory. Yanez probably absorbed a bit more punishment on the feet than he would have preferred, but there was no question who landed the more damaging shots throughout the course of the fight. All told, Yanez connected with 100 total strikes compared to 98 from Grant. The second round could have gone either way, but the first and final frame appeared to be clearly in Yanez's favor. Yanez is still working to incorporate some secondary skills into his game, but he's a high-level boxer with the ability to overwhelm his competition on the feet. The soon-to-be 28-year-old improves to a perfect 4-0 in the UFC. He'll also take home a $50,000 post-fight bonus after this matchup was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Yanez (nose) is slated to fight Davey Grant on November 20, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Yanez was handed a six-month medical suspension after suffering damage to his nose during his win over Randy Costa in July. However, the UFC appears to have waived the suspension, as he's set to return to the octagon after a three-month absence.

Yanez will be required to undergo a nasal bones X-Ray and will be required to sit six months or until he gains medical clearance if it comes back positive, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite nabbing the win over Randy Costa via TKO (punches) in the second round Saturday, Yanez may have taken some major damage himself that could require a lengthy stay on the sidelines. Should the suspension go the full length, Yanez would be looking at a late January return to the Octagon at the earliest.

Yanez defeated Randy Costa via TKO (punches) at 2:11 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 27 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Yanez was caught by surprise by the kicks and piston-like jab of Costa, which turned his face into a mask of blood in Round 1. The 27-year-old made key adjustments at the opening bell of the second frame, namely pressuring and throwing his own jab to counteract the shot from his opponent. The combination of damage and fatigue saw Costa crumble after a couple of hard body shots to give Yanez his third consecutive stoppage win. Yanez has taken the bantamweight division by storm, stopping every UFC fighter in his path en route to a 14-3 record in professional MMA.
Set to face Costa

Yanez (hand) will face Randy Costa in a bantamweight fight at the UFC's July 24 event, , Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Yanez suffered a hand injury during his March 20 victory over Gustavo Lopez and was handed a six-month medical suspension. Fortunately for Yanez, he appears to have received full medical clearance from a doctor a month later, allowing him to return to the Octagon earlier than anticipated. Yanez enters the fight sporting a clean 3-0 record since making his UFC debut, but he'll face a tough test in Costa, who has bounced back from a debut loss to Brandon Davis with knockout and technical-knockout wins. Yanez yields two inches of height and three inches of reach to his upcoming opponent.
