Lazzez lost to Gabriel Bonfim via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:49 of Round 1 at UFC 283 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
As we found out this evening, the world of MMA is being taken over by the Bonfim brothers, leaving Lazzez with no chance of pulling the upset here. Lazzez pushed forward for a takedown less than a minute into the bout and left his neck exposed in the process. He was tapping out moments after that. Now 35 years of age, Lazzez has now alternated wins and losses in his first four UFC bouts. The upside here would appear to be exceedingly minimal.

Lazzez is scheduled to face Gabriel Bonfim in a welterweight bout at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro on Jan. 21, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lazzez has two wins and a loss thus far in his UFC career. He most recently defeated Ange Loosa by unanimous decision in April. He'll get to welcome Bonfim to the UFC after the latter earned his contract by scoring a first-round submission against Trey Waters in the Contender Series.

Lazzez defeated Ange Loosa via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Originally scheduled to face Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, Lazzez had no issues with his Loosa accepting this fight on less than a weeks' notice after the Brazilian was forced to withdraw. The two men combined to fail on all four of their takedown attempts (two each), but Lazzez was the more active and effective fighter in the stand-up. He finished with a 141-91 edge in total strikes landed, including a 68-48 edge in Round 3 when both men picked up the volume considerably. The 34-year-old has now alternated wins and losses in his first three UFC bouts.

Lazzez will now take on Ange Loosa at the UFC event April 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The UFC was able to move quickly in finding a replacement after Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos withdrew on Monday. Loosa will be making his UFC debut with a professional record of 8-2 and is coming off a win earlier this month.
Won't face Zaleski dos Santos

April 11, 2022
Lazzez won't fight Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos at UFC Vegas 51 on April 16 after Zaleski dos Santos withdrew on Monday due to personal reasons, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if the UFC will find a replacement opponent to match up with Lazzez for the April 16 event, but he won't face off with Zaleski dos Santos as originally scheduled. If a replacement is found, Lazzez will look to improve his 1-1 record with the promotion after he was last defeated by Warlley Alves in January of 2021.
