Loses war of attrition Saturday
WelterweightBellator
July 27, 2019
Stewart lost to Erik Koch via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Stewart had moments of success when Koch agreed to kickbox with him, but much like his UFC debut, "Gunz Up" simply couldn't avoid the takedown, getting dominated on the ground for large portions of the final two frames. Stewart is a powerful striker who can work some wrestling of his own, but his inability to stop takedowns will likely continue to be exploited at this level. He falls to 11-3 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
Set for UFC Edmonton
WelterweightBellator
May 28, 2019
Stewart will square off against Erik Koch in a welterweight matchup at UFC Edmonton on July 27.
ANALYSIS
Stewart didn't make his UFC debut until age 29 and it didn't take long for him to be introduced to the promotion. Stewart tapped out via rear-naked choke just 2:25 into the first round of UFC Fight Night 13 versus Chance Rencountre, but will look for a better result this time around against an opponent in Koch who has lost five of his last seven fights. Whether or not he opens as a favorite, Stewart should see the betting odds tip his way on weigh-in day, as he'll own four-inch height and five-inch reach advantages.
Not competitive in UFC debut

January 19, 2019
Stewart lost to Chance Rencountre via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:25 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Stewart's official UFC debut was an unmitigated disaster. He provided zero resistance when Recountre went for an early takedown attempt and he was unable to recover. Stewart's poor grappling was a concern going into the bout and it ended up his undoing. He seems likely to get a second chance with the company, but there's nothing to see here.
Set for UFC debut
WelterweightBellator
January 14, 2019
Stewart signed with the UFC on Monday ahead of his debut bout against Chance Rencountre at UFC Brooklyn on Saturday, Damon Martin of MMA Weekly reports.
ANALYSIS
Rencountre had been initially scheduled to face Randy Brown, but Brown was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons Sunday. Dwight Grant was reported to be stepping in for Brown, but plans apparently changed as now it will be Stewart instead. The 29-year-old heads to the UFC after compiling an 11-1 record as a professional with other promotions.
