Departs UFC
MiddleweightOther
December 4, 2020
Lewis parted ways with the UFC on Friday, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lewis competed in four fights under the UFC banner, but he posted a lackluster 1-3 record. He most recently lost to Trevin Giles via TKO (punches) at UFC on ESPN+ 40 in early November, and he was one of four fighters to depart the promotion Friday. It's unclear whether the promotion released him or if his contract simply expired, but he'll seek a new opportunity moving forward.

Has little for Trevin Giles
MiddleweightOther
November 7, 2020
Lewis lost to Trevin Giles via TKO (punches) at 1:26 of Round 3 at UFC on ESPN+ 40 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Lewis and Giles each came out aggressive, but Giles struck first with the takedown. Lewis eventually got up to his feet and pressed Giles against the fence, landing a few knees and foot stomps. The biggest moment of the round, however, was a Giles left jab that sent Lewis to the canvas, likely securing the round for Giles. Lewis slowed a bit in Round 2, failing to use his kicks to prevent Giles from getting into boxing range. Both fighters saw a big decrease in output in this round, but Giles likely landed enough jabs to take the frame. Lewis still didn't have any answers in the third. He went for a takedown with no luck, and both fighters scrambled back to the feet. Giles followed up with a strong 1-2 combination that went unanswered by Lewis, who continued to eat shots. Lewis fell to the ground and Mark Smith called it off. It was an uninspiring performance from Lewis, who falls to 1-3 in the UFC.

Takes low-scoring decision
MiddleweightOther
January 26, 2020
Lewis defeated Dequan Townsend via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Raleigh on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Lewis has the win on paper, but he didn't do a ton to inspire confidence moving forward. Only 36 of his 94 total strikes were deemed "significant" by the official scorer, and he was 0-for-3 on his takedown attempts. After the fight, Lewis immediately started to limp due to an apparent leg injury, which likely explains the sub-optimal performance from the (-370) betting favorite. We'll await word from the commission regarding a potential medical suspension and additional details, but Lewis could be sidelined a few months as a result of the injury.
Gets new opponent at UFC Raleigh
MiddleweightOther
December 16, 2019
Lewis will now take on Dequan Townsend in a middleweight bout at UFC Raleigh on Jan. 25, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Lewis was initially scheduled to face Alen Amedovski at the event in January, but Amedovski was removed for an undisclosed reason and Townsend will step in on short notice to take his place. Lewis has yet to earn a win with the promotion. Townsend is also trying to earn his first UFC victory after he lost his debut in June to Dalcha Lungiambula via TKO (punches and elbows) at UFC Minneapolis, an event that he also took on with short notice. The two fighters are even in height and reach.
Will fight at UFC Raleigh
MiddleweightOther
November 14, 2019
Lewis will face Alen Amedovski in a middleweight matchup at UFC Raleigh on Jan. 25, Jose Youngs of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old is winless in his two fights in the UFC after winning a shot on Dana White's Contender Series. He'll face Amedovski, a Bellator veteran who has also lost both of his fights with the promotion and carries a professional record of 8-2. Lewis carries a four-inch height advantage and six-inch reach advantage as he looks to get into the win column for the first time in the UFC.
