Rebounds with big TKO win
FlyweightUFC
November 21, 2020
Shevchenko defeated Ariane Lipski via TKO (strikes) at 4:33 of Round 2 at UFC 255 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It goes in the books as a knockout win for Shevchenko, but she won this fight by routing Lipski on the mat. Antonina got popped repeatedly in the very rare instances in which this fight was contested on the feet, but Lipski's completely inability to defend herself on the ground resulted in Shevchenko racking up a bunch of control time before finishing Lipski off with ground-and-pound. The effort here was later rewarded with a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Antonina is good enough to defeat fringe roster fighters, but she figures to remain inconsistent moving forward. She turned 36 years of age on Friday and has now alternated wins and losses in her first five official UFC bouts.

Shevchenko will take on Ariane Lipski in a flyweight matchup at UFC 255 on Nov. 21, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Shevchenko will return to the Octagon for the first time since suffering a loss to Katlyn Chookagian via unanimous decision in late May, a fight in which Shevchenko looked completely outmatched. Shevchenko was a favorite heading into the matchup but failed to live up to expectations. Lipski has picked up two consecutive wins, most recently defeating Luana Carolina via submission (Kneebar) in July. Shevchenko carries advantages in height and reach.
Blown out by Katlyn Chookagian

Shevchenko lost to Katlyn Chookagian via unanimous decision (25-30, 25-30, 25-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
After seeing this fight, it's nearly impossible to believe Shevchenko entered as a (-145) favorite. To say she was dominated by Chookagian would be the understatement of the century. She spent nearly the entirety of the first two rounds on her back and accomplished nothing offensively outside of a handful of meaningless strikes at the early stages of Round 3. The only positive of Antonina's evening was the fact she survived multiple deep submission attempts from Chookagian in Round 1. It was such a poor effort that it makes you wonder if Shevchenko was ill or injured coming into the bout. Shevchenko has clearly been over hyped due to the fact her younger sister Valentina is the UFC Women's Flyweight Champion and arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Antonina turn 36 years of age this coming November and is 1-2 in her past three bouts. Her future is bleak.
Nearing agreement for May 30 bout
FlyweightUFC
May 21, 2020
Shevchenko (8-1, 2-1 UFC) is finalizing an agreement to square off against Katlyn Chookagian (13-3, 9-3 UFC) in a flyweight matchup on the May 30 UFC card, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Shevchenko bounced back from her first professional defeat with a win over Lucie Pudilova via submission in the second round last August. While she carries slightly better marks in significant strikes landed per minute (4.90 to 4.11) and strike defense rate (65 to 63 percent) than her opponent, and will have an inch of height and reach on her opponent, Shevchenko has nowhere near the track record of Chookagian to date. Despite that fact, Shevchenko is currently a (-145) betting favorite as of Sunday afternoon.

Shevchenko will square off against Cynthia Calvillo at UFC Lincon on April 25.
ANALYSIS
Shevchenko bounce back from her first professional loss nicely with a win in August, besting Lucie Pudilova via technical submission in the second round. She owns a 2-1-0 mark since joining the UFC via Dana White's Contender Series and will aim to boost her stock against Calvillo, who sports an 8-1-1 professional mark and a 5-1-1 record in the UFC promotion.
Looks strong in dominant win

Shevchenko defeated Lucie Pudilova via technical submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:20 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 5 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
It was by far the best performance for Shevchenko's brief three-fight UFC run. She defended four of Pudilova's five takedown attempts, and used her physicality to consistently control the pace of the bout at the point of attack. Antonina's striking defense remains a concern and she doesn't possess the overwhelming offensive attack of her more famous sister, but she will win more than her fair share of fights if she consistently attacks her opposition like she did on Saturday. Not only did this fight get her back in the win column, but Shevchenko will go home with an extra $50,000 after earning Fight of the Night honors.
