Bermudez announced Friday on Instagram that he's been released by the UFC.
ANALYSIS
While this is a disappointing development for Bermudez, it shouldn't have taken him off guard considering he missed weight in each of his last three fights, despite a move up in weight class for his most recent fight. He'll likely land elsewhere under another promotion.

Crushing defeat in Boston

October 18, 2019
Bermudez lost to Charles Rosa via submission (Armbar) at 2:46 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night Friday in Boston.
ANALYSIS
As if missing weight on Thursday wasn't bad enough, Bermudez went out and laid an egg on Friday. It's a crushing defeat for Bermudez in a fight in which he was in total control. One reckless mistake ultimately led to his demise. After pounding Rosa with a variety of different strikes, Bermudez got reckless and left his arm exposed and paid for it dearly. Manny entered as a significant favorite (-185) and based upon the early returns, likely would has cruised to victory had the submission not presented itself for Rosa. Quite frankly, it's a loss that simply cannot occur, especially given the fact Bermudez was already coming off a poor performance as a massive favorite against Casey Kenney in August.

Bermudez will still fight Charles Rosa at UFC Boston on Friday after missing weight, John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez weighed in at 148 pounds Thursday -- two pounds over the featherweight limit -- but his fight will still continue against Rosa, who will accept a bout against a heavy opponent. Bermudez will be fined 20 percent of his purse as a result of missing weight. Bermudez is coming off the first loss of his professional career, but still owns a 3-1 record while fighting with UFC.

Bermudez weighed in at 148 pounds -- two pounds over the featherweight limit -- for Friday's matchup against Charles Rosa at UFC Boston.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez has long had weight cutting troubles, as he had previously competed at bantamweight and missed weight there as well. His UFC 241 matchup against Casey Kenney was changed to a catchweight (140 pounds), and after that, the promotion apparently forced him to move up to the 145-pound division. Now he's having trouble making that mark, and reports indicate that he won't attempt to cut any further weight. Stay tuned for an update on whether Rosa will accept a bout against a heavy opponent, as well as what potential fines will be in place.

Bermudez has been booked to fight Charles Rosa in a featherweight bout at UFC on ESPN 6 in Boston on Oct. 18, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Bermudez is coming off the first loss of his professional career, but his chance to rebound will come in an entirely different weight class, as Bermudez moved up to featherweight (145 pounds) back in August. The loss that led to the change came against Casey Kenney via unanimous decision at UFC 241, but he still boasts a 3-1 record in the octagon.
UFC forces weight class change

Bermudez will move up to featherweight (145 pounds) following his loss to Casey Kenney at UFC 241 on Saturday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The writing was on the walls when the UFC moved this scheduled bantamweight bout to a 140-pound catchweight fight prior to Friday's weigh-ins. It was still likely a tough cut for Bermudez even with the five pounds of leeway, as he weighed in at 164.8 pounds on fight night -- nearly 20 pounds heavier than his opponent. Unfortunately for Bermudez, it didn't give him the advantage he sought, and he ended up losing the fight. Bermudez would have likely continued with these brutal weight cuts without intervention, so the promotion will step in and force a move up to featherweight. It will still be a difficult cut for Bermudez, but in theory, he should have improved cardio and be less susceptible to knockouts moving forward, though he'll likely forfeit the size advantage he had been getting while competing at 135 pounds.
