The Problem

Struggles continue in Vegas
WelterweightUFC
February 10, 2024
Giles lost to Carlos Prates via KO (punch) at 4:03 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Giles' UFC run has been marred by inconsistency. Not just on a fight-by-fight basis, but on a round-by-round basis. Giles was up 10-9 on all three scorecards and was well on his way to winning Round 2 before getting knocked out cold with a left hand from Prates with less than a minute left in the second frame. The biggest concern for Trevin at this point is his sudden lack of durability. He has just three knockout defeats in his pro career, but they've all come in his past six (2-4) fights. Giles' roster spot may very well be on the line his next time out.

Giles lost to Gabriel Bonfim via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:13 of Round 1 at UFC 291 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
Giles' brief, two-fight winning streak came to an end in dramatic and overwhelming fashion. Trevin was slammed to the mat by Bonfim not long after the opening bell rang and while trying to get back to his feet, left his neck exposed. He briefly tried to eradicate himself from the situation, but quickly knew the gig was up. Set to turn 32 years of age next week, Giles is 2-3 in his past five fights, although all three of those setbacks came against a rising star in Bonfim, one of the best young prospects in the world in Michael Morales and a future 185-pound title challenger in Dricus Du Plessis.
Bonfim fight scheduled

May 25, 2023
Giles will fight Gabriel Bonfim in a welterweight bout at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City on July 29, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Giles, coming off decision wins over Louis Cosce and Preston Parsons, has a chance of improving his winning streak to three. Perhaps beneficiary to Giles, his next opponent has never fought a full three rounds. However, the downside is that Bonfim finished all 14 of his opponents without needing a third round.
Secures second straight win
WelterweightUFC
March 25, 2023
Giles defeated Preston Parsons via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN 43 on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
One of several Texans competing in their home state this evening, Giles was fortunate two of the three judges saw the fight for him. That's not to say he didn't deserve to win, but you certainly wouldn't have had much, if any, complaining had the decision gone the other way. Trevin appeared to be the more effective striker of the two, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise. He did allow Parsons to connect on three takedowns, but also did a job job of battling on the mat, a necessity against an opponent such as Parsons that is entirely reliant on his submission game for success. Giles has quietly won five of seven dating back to February 2020.
Booked against Parsons
WelterweightUFC
January 7, 2023
Giles is set to fight Preston Parsons in a welterweight division match on March 25 for a UFC event in his hometown of San Antonio, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Giles will return to the UFC octagon following a one-match stint at Fury Pro Grappling, where he lost to Mike Malott via decision. He has won four of his last six matches in the UFC including a unanimous decision over Louis Cosce in his last bout. He will look to build on that in his hometown against Parsons, who is coming off his first win with the company.
