Perrin has decided to call it a career and won't return for another season, Telia Finland reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a four-year collegiate career with the University of Vermont, Perrin spent time in the IHL and Finnish league before getting a shot with Tampa Bay and later Atlanta. The 43-year-old played in 245 NHL games, in which he tallied 32 goals, 72 helpers and 92 PIM, along with another three playoff points. Following the 2008-09 season, the Quebec native eventually returned to Finland, where he played for the last nine seasons with JyP HT Jyvaskyla and registered four 50-point campaigns.

Perrin finished with 12 goals and 33 assists in his 2007-08 campaign. He is more than likely to be paired up with teammates Eric Boulton and Chris Thorburn and should get a little more ice-time in 2008-09. Expect 40-50 points out of him this season.
Perrin has been playing in Finland and Switzerland the last few years and it seems to have paid off as he surprised and impresed many with his fine rookie season last year with the Lightning (36 points in 82 games). This year Perrin will most likely be in a checking role with the Thrashers but due to the lack of a quality second line wingers, Perrin could be put into a scoring line with a good camp. In very deep leagues Perrin would make a good sleeper and for other leagues he's a good guy to watch in training camp.
Perrin left the Lightning and headed to Europe for last season when it became clear the new CBA salary cap on two-way contracts was going to keep him in the AHL. Now, the league has increased the minor-league salary amount to $95,000 from $75,000 so Perrin can go up and down easily without needing to clear waivers. He's a decent player and a buddy of Marty St. Louis but he isn't going to produce any fantasy totals for you.
