FanDuel NHL: Friday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Friday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

Just four games for Friday with the Oilers at Canadiens postponed. The big highlight is another key North Division matchup between the Jets and Flames (10 p.m. EDT). The Jets pretty much dashed the Canucks' playoff hopes by sweeping them and will look to do the same to the Flames, who sit fifth in points percentage.

GOALIES

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at CGY ($8,400): There's no clearcut top option, but Hellebuyck and the Jets have played very well and the Flames haven't. Considering both teams' preference to play a physical, heavy game, it should be a low-event affair. The Flames should be able to turn it around sooner than later, but the Jets enter with all the momentum.

Ilya Samsonov, WSH vs. NJ ($8,200): Samsonov might be the best value play of the night. Don't count out Scott Wedgewood (.918 Sv%) who is expected to start, but the Caps are 4-0 against the Devils this season.

Martin Jones, SJ at ARI ($7,600): Jones has actually been solid the past couple of weeks, including two straight 40-plus save wins against the Kings. There's not much confidence in this matchup because the Coyotes' offense scored five goals twice in their past three games while the Sharks tend to play in high-scoring games mostly due to awful goaltending.

Ville Husso, STL vs. ANH ($7,300): The Blues are playing the second half of a back-to-back, though it should be a less frustrating game after outshooting the Wild 37-11 but losing 2-0 on Thursday. Husso's season numbers (.885 Sv%, 3.40 GAA) don't inspire confidence, but the Ducks have lost seven of their past eight and have only scored eight goals in four matchups against the Blues.

VALUE PLAYS

Janne Kuokkanen, NJ at WSH ($3,700): Kuokkanen extended his point streak to three games and continues to play on the top line. Linemate Yegor Sharangovich ($3,900) has been producing similar stats but comes in with a slightly higher salary.

Troy Terry, ANH at STL ($3,300): For a scorer, it's frustrating Terry doesn't shoot the puck more. Otherwise, he's playing on the top power-play unit and on the second line with Trevor Zegras and faces a team with poor goaltending.

LINE STACKS

Blues vs. Ducks

Brayden Schenn (C - $5,500), Jaden Schwartz (W - $5,600), Vladimir Tarasenko (W - $6,900)

Tarasenko accounted for seven shots last night and their shutout loss was more a function of bad luck. This was one of the Blues' best lines before Tarasenko was hurt and they were dominant Thursday with a 78.95 5v5 CF% and 15 shots over 12 minutes of 5v5 play.

Sharks at Coyotes

Logan Couture (C - $6,600), Kevin Labanc (W - $4,600), Evander Kane (W - $7,800)

Couture's status is questionable after he took a high stick on Wednesday, but the key to this line is Kane who scored two goals last game and has been their best forward for most of the season. Of note, the Sharks' last five matchups have featured an average of seven goals.

DEFENSEMEN

John Carlson, WSH vs. NJ ($6,700): Carlson's the only elite defensemen skating on Friday and no one else offers the same consistent, offensive upside. He's on a four-game point streak and already has six points against the Devils this year.

Jakob Chychrun, ARI vs. SJ ($5,100): Chychrun has scored two goals in his past three games and continues his ascension to the top of the Coyotes' blueline. The Sharks' defense has been bleeding chances all season and beat the Kings despite allowing more than 40 shots both contests.

Ty Smith, NJ at WSH ($3,600): Smith has flown under the radar all season and has continued to pile up the assists. His puck-moving ability has been a game changer for the Devils - especially on the top power play - and he picked up an assist Thursday against the Caps to extend his point streak to three.
