FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

For the rest of the postseason, FanDuel will be running one-game DFS contests. These formats are a fun twist, as you pick one captain -- who is worth 1.5 times the points -- and four utility players from any position. It changes the strategy a bit, but most things stay the same. For example, stacking players together is still the most efficient way to pile up points, although you can allow yourself more flexibility by just stacking two players as opposed to three, depending on your roster makeup. Most importantly, however, you want your captain to be your highest scoring player. Keep in mind that there are no goalies in this format. Both goalies in this slate were outstanding in the Stars' 1-0 win in Game 1.

VALUE PLAYS

Reilly Smith, VGK vs. DAL ($7,500): A top-six forward who posted 27-27-74 in the regular season is out of place at this salary. He's been rocky of late, but he's still maintained a consistent shot volume and has six points over the last nine contests with just one coming on the power play.

Radek Faksa, DAL vs. VGK ($7,000): Faksa was bumped up to the second line next to Jamie Benn for Game 1, a gamble that paid off but sent Tyler Seguin to the bottom-six. He's been pretty productive this postseason as well with seven points over the last nine games, and centering Benn's line lifts his ceiling further.

LINE STACKS

Golden Knights vs. Stars

C - Chandler Stephenson ($7,500)
W - Mark Stone ($13,500)
W - Max Pacioretty ($14,500)

After getting shut out in the series opener, expect the Golden Knights to battle back and even the series. This line hasn't played together for the entire postseason, but Pacioretty and Stone are dynamite no matter who centers them, as they've respectively recorded 3.98 and 3.53 xGF/60, per Natural Stat Trick. The goal-scoring upside is through the roof between Pacioretty and Stone as well, so plugging either into the captain spot could yield major dividends.

DEFENSEMEN

Miro Heiskanen, DAL vs. VGK ($11,000): Marc-Andre Fleury stopped Heiskanen's eight-game point streak from extending to nine, but it's intriguing to take the young blueliner's upside. It won't be long before we accept that he's one of the best defensemen in the league and the outright best player on his team, and his salary is still discounted for that production.

Alec Martinez, VGK vs. DAL ($7,500): Martinez is the perfect way to anchor your lineup at a low salary. He consistently blocks enough shots or shoots enough to provide a sturdy floor, and although he's on a four-game pointless streak, he's been generating tons of opportunities. He's second only to teammate Shea Theodore among defensemen with 3.77 xGF/60.
