SLATE PREVIEW
There are three games in the NHL on Monday. After Toronto and Florida combined for 12 goals in their last meeting, there should be plenty of offense when the Maple Leafs host the Panthers Monday night. The Stars visit the Rangers in a potential low-scoring affair, and the Flyers are the largest favorite on the schedule in their road game against the Red Wings.
GOALIES
Brian Elliott ($7,600) will likely be the most popular goalie target Monday. The Red Wings score the fewest goals per game in the league, and Philadelphia has won five of its past seven contests. It's definitely important to note that the Flyers have been significantly better on home ice (18-4-4 vs. 10-13-3), but Elliott is also a start removed from a three-game winning streak with a .954 save percentage and 1.31 GAA.
Dallas has allowed the third fewest five-on-five goals per 60 minutes and scored the third fewest five-on-five goals per 60 minutes in the league this season, so both starting goaltenders are in play with the Stars-Rangers game likely to be low scoring. Alexandar Georgiev ($7,800) owns a respectable .916 save percentage and 2.57 GAA through his past four starts, and if Igor Shesterkin ($7,600) starts, he's also an option because of his strong play this season: 3-1-0 record, .927 save percentage and 2.51 GAA. It's important to note the potential risk Ben Bishop ($7,700) carries, though. He owns a mediocre .909 save percentage and 2.87 GAA on the road this season.
Those looking for a contrarian option that's also low priced -- and risky -- could consider Sergei Bobrovsky ($7,200). Obviously, Toronto checks out as a daunting matchup as the highest-scoring team in the league since Dec. 1, but the first-year Panther has won four of his past five starts and recorded double-digit DraftKings points in each outing.
VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS
In the midst of a dominant offensive campaign, and especially hot of late, Artemi Panarin ($7,100) is worth nightly consideration. His 4.24 points per hour ranks third among all regular NHLers, and he's racked up an incredible seven goals, 18 assists and seven multi-point showings through his past 13 outings.
It's been 12 games and 41 shots since Tyler Seguin ($6,500) last scored, and his current 6.0 shooting percentage is significantly below the 11.3 mark he recorded through his first six seasons with the Stars. The Rangers allow the most expected goals per hour in the league, so the veteran should have opportunities to cash in.
Considering Jonathan Huberdeau ($6,200) has an elite 4.15 points per hour this season, his price is a little short, and especially since the Maple Leafs have been prone to frequent defensive lapses. The winger has collected seven tallies and 21 helpers through the past 18 games, and Toronto has allowed a healthy 3.17 goals per hour through 24 games since Dec. 1.
There have been a number of peaks and valleys for Kevin Hayes ($4,300) during his first few months with the Flyers, but the veteran appears to have settled in with eight tallies, eight helpers and 52 shots through 20 games since mid-December. The Red Wings allow the most goals per 60 minutes in the league and also own the worst penalty-kill percentage in the league, so the matchup also checks out favorably.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Load up Toronto's top line confidently Monday. Auston Matthews ($8,300), Mitch Marner ($7,700) and Zach Hyman ($5,600) have clicked for 6.32 goals and 16.25 high-danger scoring chances per hour at even strength on the heels of a combined 41 goals and 43 assists through the past 22 games. Florida has surrendered 3.24 goals per hour this season -- sixth most in the league -- including 11 over its past three contests.
With the noted soft matchup against Detroit, look for Philadelphia's second line to continue its strong recent form. Sean Couturier ($5,700), Jakub Voracek ($4,600) and Joel Farabee ($3,300) have clicked for an impressive 8.6 goals per hour at even strength while driving possession with a 55.4 Corsi For percentage. Couturier and Voracek have combined for four goals and 12 assists over the past seven games, and Farabee enters with a five-game point streak consisting of four tallies and two helpers. Just note, the trio owns an unsustainably high 35.7 shooting percentage.
DEFENSEMEN
There is a lot of value in defense pool Monday, as Tyson Barrie ($5,700) is the most expensive blueliner. He's recorded 15 points and 41 shots through his past 15 outings while logging a hefty 22:10 (3:19 with the man advantage). He's a solid addition to a Maple Leafs stack.
Ivan Provorov ($5,000) has just two assists through the past 14 games, so his salary appears a bit high. That could keep his ownership down, though, and the matchup is soft. Provorov's role as the power-play quarterback on the No. 1 unit also boosts his value with Detroit's struggles while shorthanded.
Keith Yandle ($4,400) ranks fifth in points per hour this season among regular defensemen this season and is locked in as Florida's power-play quarterback on top unit, so he's priced to reward Monday. As noted, the Maple Leafs are far from a defensive juggernaut.
Rookies Rasmus Sandin ($3,500) and Adam Fox ($3,500) are both affordable, receive power-play time and producing of late. Sandin has collected a goal, four assists, eight shots and eight blocks through six games since being recalled from the AHL, and Fox has 11 points through his past 13 outings.
