FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Picks

SLATE PREVIEW

Tuesday features a 12-game NHL slate with just two divisional matchups, and there are seven inter-conference games. Three teams are in the midst of back-to-back contests, so make sure to keep an eye out for goalie confirmations to avoid the dreaded goose eggs in your lineup. Read on to decipher the crowded DFS options before the first puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

GOALIES

Ben Bishop ($9,200) is the highest-priced netminder as New Jersey comes to town. Not only is he red hot, allowing two or fewer goals in each of his last five starts, but the Devils are trending in the opposite direction with five straight losses and nine total goals in that span. However, the Stars have only lit the lamp 10 times over their last six contests, making MacKenzie Blackwood ($7,000) a decent flier in tournaments.

Tristan Jarry ($8,200) looks like he could take over the starting job soon if he hasn't already, as he's coming off back-to-back shutouts and won six of his last seven games. However, he comes with some risk against the Canadiens, who lead the league with 68.52 high-danger/scoring chances per 60 minutes over the past two weeks, according to Natural Stat Trick.

The King faces the Kings. While Henrik Lundqvist ($7,300) hasn't played well lately, he garners a prime matchup to get back on track, as Los Angeles has dropped four straight and totaled seven scores in that stretch. Furthermore, the Kings average 34.4 shots on net per game -- second-most in the league -- hoisting Lundqvist's ceiling even further.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Dominik Kahun ($4,500) has featured an appealing scoring touch lately, and he's being rewarded with a promotion to the top line alongside Evgeni Malkin, who has racked up 20 points over 13 games in a Crosby-less world. Kahun should continue toiling on the power play against Montreal's sub-par penalty kill (75.6 percent).

Pontus Aberg ($3,400) is onto his fifth NHL team in three years after getting called up to the Maple Leafs last week. He matches his knack for waivers with an equal aptitude for the top six, and he'll flank Auston Matthews on the top line. The 26-year-old managed to post an assist during Saturday's game in that role, and he's in line to keep it rolling against the Canucks, who have allowed 20 goals over their last five contests.

The Wild are starting to gear up, and Ryan Donato ($3,200) will start working in the top six tonight. The youngster has demonstrated a scoring touch recently with three goals and a helper over the past six outings. He'll look to keep the engine revving against the Ducks, who have yielded 3.29 goals per road game this year.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Winnipeg Jets (TOTAL: $22,800)

C - Mark Scheifele ($7,700)
W - Kyle Connor ($6,700)
W - Patrik Laine ($7,800)

This unit has featured intense chemistry lately with six goals and seven assists over the three contests, totaling 30 shots on net during that span. Detroit's penalty kill ranks 31st (72.2 percent), and it has posted 4.57 GA/60 at even strength over the last two weeks -- the highest rate in the league.

New York Rangers (TOTAL: $20,800)

C - Mika Zibanejad ($7,400)
W - Artemi Panarin ($8,200)
W - Kaapo Kakko ($5,200)

Zibanejad has picked up right where he left off prior to a lengthy injury, posting three goals and as many assists over seven games. Panarin has matched that point production while Kakko adds a solid scoring touch along with an intriguing floor due to his shot volume. The trio works on the same power play as well, and they'll look to leverage that correlation against the Kings' 29th-ranked penalty kill (74.0 percent).

Nashville Predators (TOTAL: $13,500)

C - Kyle Turris ($3,700)
W - Matt Duchene ($6,300)
W - Daniel Carr ($3,500)

An extremely cheap option, this line is loaded with upside against the continuous blunder in San Jose's crease, which has allowed 15 goals over its last three outings. Duchene's in a bit of a slump but still ranks fourth on the team with a 56.3 Corsi For percentage, while Turris and Carr combined for three points in the team's last game. It's set up to be a boom-or-bust stack, but it won't take much to outproduce the price tag, allowing you to insert one of the more expensive options above.

DEFENSE

Shea Weber ($6,500) is one of the pricier options in this slate, and he's marking the scoresheet at the highest rate of his career with 0.76 points per game. Even if he can't crack Jarry, his floor is rock solid. The veteran blueliner has averaged three shots on net and two blocked shots per game this year while registering a plus-9 rating.

Roman Josi ($6,200) leads the Predators in assists (18), points (25) and shots on net (100) through 28 games. The 29-year-old is a worthy addition to the team's aforementioned forward stack, as he's had success against the Sharks in his career with 16 points over 24 outings.

Quinn Hughes ($4,600) continues to be an assist machine, racking up 10 helpers over the past six games while averaging 21:42 of ice time. The rookie will continue to work on the top unit with Alexander Edler (upper body) out. The Maple Leafs have yielded 14 points to opposing blue lines over the last five games, so the road is paved for Hughes to keep on motoring.

Morgan Rielly ($5,000), Adam Fox ($4,000) and Justin Schultz ($4,100) quarterback power plays that will be up against penalty kills ranking in the bottom six of the league. Schultz is a bit more of a risk with just three points on the man advantage this season, but Rielly and Fox have already showcased their upside so far.
